In this process to build strength, you start with high repetitions, low weight and then decrease the repetitions as you add weight. After this you work your way back down, by reducing the weight and adding the number of repetitions. You can do any number of repetitions for the desired number of sets as long as you follow the high repetitions/low weight progression to heavier weights and less reps. This ensures that there is adequate build in strength and also stamina for a wholesome development.
