Beware of the weight gain myths

Weight gain myths do exist. The secret to bodybuiilding lies in ignoring such myths and going ahead with what you want to achieve. Keep in mind the success story of many successful bodybuilders. One such myth is that the bodybuilders are just hunks and do not have flexibility. Bodybuilding has nothing to do in their reduced flexibility. Bodybuilders do not have the flexibility of a gymnast, but so are the average people. The bodybuilders do not have enough flexibility because they do not workout or that was not in their priority as a bodybuilder. In fact effective bodybuilding lies in also working on the flexibility aspect. For optimal flexibility the muscles should be well built and must be powerful enough. Weak muscles cannot flex as they are susceptible to damage if over stressed. So it is just one of the weight gain myths.

Weight gain myths were added to by the athletic coaches. In the past a lot of coaches had forbidden the sportsmen to take to weight training believing that it will only make them stocky men and reduce their flexibility. These days boxers train under the supervision of experienced weight trainers. Scientific strength training emphasizes weight-training in order to strengthen the muscles which must have to be as effective as possible to deliver that little extra bit which will win you the day. Boxing greats like Mike Weaver, George Foreman have trained under weight trainers. George Foreman sports his arms which are over 20 inches. Evander Holyfield trained under the eight-time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney. Boxers need quick movements and power. They have gained greatly through weight training. Like any average person who does not concentrate on doing enough exercise to develop his flexibility most bodybuilders do not work on building their flexibility. So effective bodybuiilding lies in the approach you adopt neglecting the weight gain myths.

Weight gain myths have another statement to deal with. It is said by many that they look gross. Well this could be true based on your approach and attitude. Some like the looks of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Sylvester Stallone, which is a result of years of workouts at the gym. Jean-Claude Van Damme has a good flexible body and is also well built. Some like a physique which is only slightly built up, which does not require a heavy workout or much dedication or discipline to achieve it. They have to be at their best in all that they do to build such great muscles. It all depends on the eyes of the one who makes the statements of myths. It needs heavy workout, a lot of planning and understanding to build ones muscles. If hard-work is not properly appreciated then it is for the person who makes such statements of myth to correct his views and not be a part of the weight gain myths.
