Is too much protein dangerous?

This question is perplexing many exercise and nutrition researchers who are concerned with aspects on weight gain protein and muscle mass fast. They opine that excess proteins may aggravate problems. Those on a high protein diet need to consume additional water to help digest the protein and speed up excretion. These diets also tax the liver and kidneys, which have to process the waste products generated by protein metabolism. Many bodybuilders feel that supplements will make them gain muscle mass fast. The weight gain from protein is not caused by any biochemical benefit from the supplements, but by the bodybuilder's belief that these substances are beneficial.

On the other hand, some studies have indicated that hard training athletes need above average amounts of protein to gain weight from protein. While millions of bodybuilders have been using protein supplements, the statistics on those who have suffered medical problems due to enhanced protein intake is very low.

Fat Concentrate Energy

Fats are an essential part of a well balanced diet when weight gain from protein. Fats are highly concentrated forms of energy and are as important as carbohydrates and protein. They provide nine calories per gram compared to four calories per gram of protein and carbohydrate. Fats transport vitamins A, 0, E and K into the body where they can be absorbed. They are digested slowly and keep you from feeling hungry longer than do proteins and carbohydrates. Fat is also a natural insulator and helps your body maintain its normal temperature. The body gets fats from oils, butter, margarine, shortenings, meat, baked products, fried foods, dressings, nuts, eggs, some milk products, and even lean meat.

Unsaturated fats are usually liquid and those that get solid at room temperature are called saturated fats (these tend to increase blood cholesterol levels). Polyunsaturated fats are a chemical variation of unsaturated fats. These contain some essential elements that the body can't manufacture.

All animals store fats. Beef fat when consumed by humans is converted by the liver into the type of fat characteristic of humans. The fat that is stored carries out certain functions. It is a source of energy, serves as a cushion for certain internal organs and also acts as an insulating layer under the skin, preventing rapid heat loss. These fats can result in gain in muscle mass fast.

When looking at weight gain from protein, fats are also a source of energy. All surplus fat is stored in the body in adipose tissue for a rainy day. The placement of stored fat is - 50 percent of fat is placed in subcutaneous tissue, 20 percent .in genital areas, 10 to 15 percent around the omenta (adipose tissue found in the abdominal cavity), 12 percent around the kidneys and 5 to 8 percent between the muscles. The fat reserves are continually released from storage, transported by the blood and stored in other adipose tissues. They do not contribute to weight gain from protein.
