Build
Body Mass
To build body mass,
it is important to understand that food contains energy which gives
us the calories. Proteins and carbohydrates contain approximately 4
calories per gram, and fats 9 calories. While fats are the most efficient
fuel, they are most undesirable when on a low-calorie program for weight
control and not wanting to build body mass.
Whenever your calorie intake
is in excess of what you can utilize, the excess gets stored in the
form of fat (adipose cells) and helps to build body mass. Excess of
protein, carbohydrate or fat is all broken down by the body and stored
for the rainy day when the energy required would be more than the intake.
At that stage the fat in the adipose cells is retrieved and metabolized
to make up the difference. Therefore, whatever is consumed is either
burnt or stored. Food is calories and arithmetically, 3500 calories
relates to one pound of fat - may it be a gain or a loss. This must
be remembered when you need to gain weight.
When on the dangerous path
of unscientific diets to build body mass, we lose sight lf this simple
arithmetic and this results in undesirables such as metabolism of muscle
tissue, impairment f ability to metabolize fat, deficiency of vitamins
and minerals, impairment of energy output, followed by a number of physical
and psychological symptoms. Therefore, it is important to consider the
requirement of the body for certain nutritional minimums in the daily
food intake. The necessity of a balanced diet cannot be over-emphasized
when wanting to build body mass.
The
calorie and how it can help to build body mass
When wanting to build body
mass and there is need to gain weight, we need to know that our body
burns calories to sustain life and also to undertake physical activity.
The first is called basal metabolism or resting metabolic rate (RMR)
and depends upon your muscle mass, increasing with decreasing muscle
mass. Therefore, a larger person has to eat a lot more to maintain body
weight and can lose weight on a diet hat would be fattening for the
smaller one. However, the amount of calories you bum when exercising
depends on the kind of activity you are engaged in. Those that move
more weight, may it be their own weight or that of a barbell, burn more
calories. The energy expenditure of bodybuilders is largely determined
by how intense the training is. When you lift heavy weights and have
large rest periods between sets, you burn relatively few calories. On
the other and when you train continuously, going from one set to another,
the calories burnt per hour increases substantially. This has to be
remembered when wanting to build body mass. When you train on a split
schedule, with two workouts a day, you burn up even more energy. It
is estimated that 2000 calories are burnt in such split routines and
this is a great way to get ready for a contest.
To build body mass, running
may not be a god option. This exercise speeds up the process of metabolizing
body fat. This is the most efficient exercise for burning up calories.
Running for a half hour every day will result in loss of about a pound
of fat every ten days in addition to the weight loss obtained by dieting
and other kinds of training. Thus, when the aim is o build body mass,
running is not the best option.
